About COYA Riyadh

COYA arrived in Riyadh in spring 2022 and found its natural home in the capital's most social district. As Sulimaniyah has always been the address where Riyadh's international crowd gathers — where nightlife (in its Riyadh form) begins and where the city's reputation for late-evening energy is most alive. COYA understood this instinctively. The brand, born in London's Mayfair in 2012 and now operating across Dubai, Hong Kong, Paris, and beyond, dropped its signature Peruvian glamour into a soaring dining room that immediately became one of the most photographed interiors in the city.

The space is unmistakably COYA: turquoise and gold colour scheme, tasselled lampshades, bronze and brass statement lighting, Aztec-inspired sculpture, and a resident DJ whose programme escalates with precision throughout the evening. foliage softens what might otherwise be a high-production space into something that feels genuinely alive. The outdoor terrace, open in cooler months, extends the mood into the night air. FACT Magazine named it Best Americas Restaurant in Saudi Arabia in 2025, and the World Luxury Restaurant Awards have recognised it consistently.

The Menu: Peru in the Gulf

The menu is seasonal but anchored by the culinary pillars that define COYA globally: ceviche, tiraditos, anticuchos, and a charcoal grill that handles both fish and meat with South American conviction. The ceviches are precise — the classic sea bass preparation with Peruvian corn and sweet potato sets the standard; the yellowtail with rocoto and avocado pushes into something more complex. Tiraditos, Peru's answer to sashimi, arrive with bright citric dressings that cut the richness of the fish cleanly.

The anticuchos section — skewered cuts grilled over charcoal — provides the evening's theatrical centrepiece. The beef heart is the signature, marinated in panca chilli and vinegar and cooked with a confidence that converts sceptics on the first bite. For those preferring familiar territory, the whole seabass and Josper-grilled lamb chops provide ample alternatives. Cazuelas — clay pot dishes with slow-braised proteins — round out the main menu with warmth and depth that anchors the evening before the DJ takes over entirely.

Best For

COYA is the definitive birthday venue in Riyadh's social calendar. The room understands celebration: it has the energy to sustain a party, the food to anchor it, and the design to give every guest a sense that they have arrived somewhere genuinely special. The DJ's arc from ambient to expressive tracks perfectly against a birthday dinner's natural progression. Tables of eight to twelve are the ideal configuration — the sharing format distributes food with generosity, and the room accommodates groups with the ease of long practice.

For a first date that signals confidence without intimidation, COYA works exceptionally well. The buzz of the room provides natural cover for any early-evening awkwardness; the ceviche-led menu offers easy shared exploration; and the setting communicates taste without requiring explanation. Book a terrace table for warmer months.
